Fly High and Land Safe—Lessons learned from Sandhill Cranes

Today, it has been announced that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won the White House—long roads traveled. They have plans, direction, and a sense of community. Let us do what we can to help—to close the gaps and embrace our neighbors.

For those that have read my memoir, ‘Balanced on the Edge of the Crowd’, you know that as a teen, I fled a home filled with racism, psychological abuse, and division. All that mattered came down to how much stuff do we have? Is it enough? How do I get more?

New Mexico has become a land of enchantment for me. Enchantment with the wildlife, wilderness, and diversity of peoples. Not everyone has the same political bent and as with any place, problems, but overall, it’s calm–plenty of room for differences. All my life, in one way or another, I’ve craved peace; to be free and safe. That’s why, as I sit and watch the Sandhill Cranes arrive from faraway horizons and land safely in groups, I know it’s time to put the past behind and move through to the goal of redemption. Peace.
